World Temperature Map 2010

Posted on January 12, 2011

The larger the dot, the more the temperature departs from the norm.  The norm in this map represents the averaged world temperatures between the years 1971 and 2000.  Red means that in 2010 that part of the world was warmer than the norm, blue means that it was cooler.

In the estimation of NOAA and NASA, 2010 was tied with 2005 for the warmest year on record.
