Everyday Police Brutality

Posted on October 2, 2008

I saw a happy policeman today, two in fact, sharing a smile over a citizen complaint.  I was just walking along on The Drive this afternoon, and there they were, chuckling to each other.

What was so amusing?  A homeless man whom they had just rousted from a doorway was complaining about being woken up with a boot.  “You could have just woken me up and told me to move on,” said the man.  “You didn’t have to kick me.  Show some respect.”

It was the remark about respect which had caused the officers’ amusement.  Police showing respect to a homeless man?  That really is amusing.

Let’s all laugh together.

And show our respect for the boys in blue in our world-class city of Vancouver.
